Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The Range Rover Sport, which underwent a redesign a few years ago, is a dynamic newcomer that serves as a more youthful counterpart to the established luxury of the Range Rover. According to Land Rover, there’s minimal overlap between the customer bases of these two iconic models, with the Range Rover Sport carving out its own distinct niche.
This is particularly evident with the introduction of the new Range Rover Sport SV, the performance flagship of the 2024 model year lineup. The SV model boasts an upgraded V8 engine, a pioneering hydraulically interlinked air suspension system, and lightweight features such as 23-inch carbon-fiber wheels.
Inside, the Range Rover Sport blends contemporary technology with robust controls for key functions like seat heating and ventilation. The 13.1-inch central curved touchscreen with haptic controls marks a significant upgrade from the previous model, enhancing the sense of luxury and quality. The interior is spacious for all occupants, and a large trunk provides ample luggage space.
Land Rover claims that the edge-lit gearshift paddles in the SV are a world first, but they’re not the only innovative features in this flagship model. The interior employs “3D knit to form” textiles, but it’s the SV’s chassis system that truly breaks new ground. Its 6D Dynamics air suspension system combines air springs and hydraulically linked dampers, eliminating the need for traditional anti-roll (sway) bars. This allows the Range Rover Sport SV to offer near roll-free cornering and effectively manage pitch and dive during acceleration and braking.
